Scrap Metal Recycling

In the 1970s, Texas Disposal Systems first began with recycling scrap metal, and we still proudly offer the service today. At our landfill and material recycling facility located in Creedmoor, Texas, we accept both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from commercial, industrial, and residential customers. We also accept e-waste, such as old electronics.

Ferrous Metals

Ferrous Metals

Demolition materials, junked vehicles, manufacturing waste, and iron-based metals are just some of the ferrous materials that we recycle. This makes us an ideal partner for eco-conscious construction projects. Learn more about our builder solution services here

Non-Ferrous Metals

Non-Ferrous Metals

From aluminum to zinc, we accept non-ferrous metals of all types. This includes metals from appliances, fixtures, construction materials, and electronic wiring. Contact us today if you’re looking to sell any non-ferrous metals, such as brass, bronze, stainless steel, or copper.

e-Waste

e-Waste

At TDS, we’re working to reduce the large volume of electronics that are discarded improperly on a daily basis, as this can be incredibly harmful to the environment. We accept e-waste, including laptops, computers, cell phones, and more. All e-waste may be taken to the non-ferrous area at our metal yard. Some items are not accepted, including batteries and “tube technology” products, as they are household hazardous wastes. Learn more about safely disposing of e-waste here

How is scrap metal recycled?

The first step we take here at TDS is separating scrap metal by type (ferrous and non-ferrous). Then, any items that can be reused for parts will be sorted and sold. The remaining two types of metal are then cleaned for the mill (removing iron items from Aluminum as an example.) Once all metals have been separated and cleaned, we either crush and bale the specific types of metal, or we ship them loose to the mill where they’ll be melted in a furnace to produce metal sheets, rebar, or cast into molds for other purposes.
