Sustainability at Waterloo Greenway
As the Sustainability Partner of Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) is proud to support one of downtown Austin’s most beloved public spaces. Announced in January 2026, this partnership expands sustainability education, waste diversion efforts, and environmental programming at Waterloo Park and Waterloo Greenway’s newest expansion, the Confluence. Together, we’re helping create cleaner, more sustainable spaces for the Austin community to enjoy together.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
Waterloo Greenway Conservancy has long been committed to environmental stewardship. From caring for more than 90,000 native and adapted plants without pesticides, to using reclaimed water and creed-fed irrigation systems, sustainability is built into every part of the park. Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park also holds an Austin Energy Green Building 4-star certification, highlighting the organization’s commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design.
As the Sustainability Partner, TDS helps strengthen these efforts by supporting ongoing waste diversion operations throughout the park. Together, we’re expanding the multi-stream recycling and composting with educational signage and outreach that helps visitors make the right disposal choice while keeping more material out of the landfill.
Bringing Sustainability Education to Life
Education plays an important role in making waste diversion successful. Knowing this, TDS and Waterloo Greenway Conservancy have installed bilingual eco stations with clear visuals that help visitors quickly identify what belongs in recycling, compost, and trash bins. By making disposal easier to understand, the partnership encourages everyday actions that support a cleaner park.
Growing Alongside the Confluence
This partnership comes at an exciting time as Waterloo Greenway celebrates the opening of the Confluence, the second phase of the 1.5-mile park system connecting downtown Austin to Lady Bird Lake. Spanning approximately 13 acres along Waller Creek, the Confluence features new hike-and-bike trails, pedestrian bridges, and an 800-foot boardwalk that expands access to Austin’s growing network of green space.
As Waterloo Greenway continues to grow, TDS is proud to help ensure sustainability grows alongside it., From recycling and compost collection, to educational resources, we’re helping to build waste diversion into every visitor’s experience across both Waterloo Park and the Confluence.
