Austin Landfill

Texas Disposal Systems opened the state’s first fully integrated services landfill in 1991, incorporating solid waste disposal, compost production and recycling operations from inception, to recover resources while minimizing waste. The TDS landfill is located on a 2,000 acre site in Southeast Travis County, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Austin. The property includes a citizens' convenience center, brush grinding, composting, various recycling facilities and a resale center. The TDS landfill is open to the public six days per week from 7:00am to 7:00pm or sunset, whichever is earlier, processing on average between 2,000 and 3,000 tons of solid waste per day.
