Concrete Recycling

Texas Disposal Systems, Inc., and its affiliate Texas Landfill Management, L.L.C., (collectively, “TDS”) offers concrete recycling and other rock base recycling services at its facility. With a demonstrated history of successfully diverting waste from the landfill, TDS offers a more economical way to dispose of concrete and rock base materials.

TDS has the processing equipment and associated heavy machinery necessary to recycle the scrap concrete and rock materials. These recyclables will be turned into road base, aggregate concrete and other recycled products suitable for a variety of applications.

At this time, TDS is accepting these materials, such as clean concrete, brick, asphalt, and rock base at no charge.

See below for a list of questions and answers regarding the program:

  • How can concrete be recycled?

Rock, similarly to metal, can be recycled over and over again without losing much of its elemental makeup. After being crushed and processed, concrete and other rock bases can be used in several types of applications to create the materials of tomorrow.

  • How is recycling concrete a cost-effective solution for consumers?

Recycling concrete and other rock base material is more economical for consumers because it diverts heavy, non-compactable materials away from the landfill.

Placing concrete and other rock base materials into the landfill translates into higher costs, due to the fact that those materials take up more air space and require more processing efforts than traditional solid waste.

Because TDS has the proper equipment and machinery to recycle that material on-site and divert it from the landfill, air space can be preserved, resulting in cost savings being passed on to consumers.

  • Where do I need to take my concrete and rock-base items for recycling?

The recyclable materials can be taken to the TDS landfill in Creedmoor, which is in southeast Travis County, just outside of Austin. The address is 3016 FM 1327, Creedmoor, TX 78610.

Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or sunset, whichever is earlier, from Monday through Saturday. The landfill is closed on Sundays. The phone number for the landfill is (512) 421-1363.

  • What kind of construction and demolition debris can be dropped off?

TDS accepts clean concrete – with and without rebar – for recycling. Additionally, TDS accepts clean rock base material such as, but not limited to, brick, granite, tile and asphalt, provided that the items are properly prepared as clean recyclables and that attendants at the TDS gatehouse are notified of the items upon the arrival of the debris at TDS. TDS also has the capability to recycle other construction and demolition debris including lumber, wood and brush.

  • What do I need to do to prepare my recyclables?

Recyclable materials must be free of foreign objects and debris, such as hazardous waste and non-rock based materials, such as, but not limited to, wood, glass or plastic. Please contact the Customer Care Department at (800) 375-8375 to get specific instructions on how to prepare your materials.

  • How much does it cost to have my concrete recycled?

TDS accepts concrete and other approved recyclable rock bases at no charge at this time. However, TDS does reserve the right to charge a fee if the materials are not properly prepared.

  • Can TDS pick up my recyclable material?

In certain circumstances, TDS will pick up your recyclable material. Please contact Commercial Support Team at 512-329-1767 to confirm whether your load qualifies for a pick up.

  • What will Texas Disposal Systems do with my recycled concrete?

Texas Disposal Systems will use the recycled materials to make road base materials and other useful rock base applications.
